Trío is a social enterprise established by Ayesha Chundrigar, founder of ACF Animal Rescue in Karachi, Pakistan. The enterprise was set up as a means to raise funds for the animal shelter, which otherwise relies solely on donations to run its operations.

The business model of Trío is as follows: local fishermen from impoverished villages are incentivised to pull out harmful ghost nets from the ocean. These nets are then cleaned and dried, before being weaved into dog leashes by women who were child brides, thereby providing them with some financial independence, new skillsets and education. The leashes are wrapped with leftover denim from the textile industry, before being decorated in brightly coloured thread. 50% of the profits go back to ACF animal rescue.

This business model and entire enterprise is very close to my heart and one I am very passionate about. I worked with Ayesha to come up with a name that suited the brand and it’s values: ‘Trío’ is in reference to the 3 pillars of life on our planet for which the brand stands: the people, the environment and the animals. Thereafter, I led the brand strategy to create a brand identity that was high-end, modern and fun, and crafted copy and a tone of voice that was direct, honest and vulnerable. Product photography using a mix of neutral and coloured backgrounds that made the products pop. The website aesthetic and experience is clean, simple and user friendly.
