I believe that the best solution is one that looks good, doesn’t cost a fortune, and is kind to people, nature & mama Earth.
Ethr’s mission is to deliver eco-conscious solutions without compromising on strategy, functionality, purpose or aesthetics. My belief is that good design and a low carbon footprint do not have to be mutually exclusive. Nothing is more attractive or inspiring than beautifully crafted, clean design that has minimal impact on the Earth and its people.
SUSTAINABILITY
Good, sustainable design leaves a lasting impression on your target market, but not on the planet. As a designer and an environmentalist, low waste design is not just part of the solution but part of my process as well. Years of sustainability and a low waste mind-set in my personal life have also weaved in through my professional habits. So both during my process and for my solution, I ask myself and my clients the following questions:
+ necessity
Is it absolutely necessary to have a printed item for this purpose?
Does it have to be print or can it be digital?
Can the message be communicated in any other way?
+ SIZING & QUANTITY
Can the printed item be any smaller?
Can we reduce the quantity of items produced?
Does the size impact the efficiency of the printing process?
+ MATERIALS
What materials are we using?
Are they reusable, compostable or biodegradable?
If not, are they easily recycled?
Can we steer clear of plastics for packaging?
Can we use glass, paper or aluminium instead?
+ INKS & FINISHES
What inks are being used?
Are they plant based?
Can we avoid foils and finishes that use plastic?
+ production
Which suppliers and printers are we using?
Do their values and processes align with our own?
Are they local - to avoid on transport emissions?
ETHICAL PRODUCTION
In order to ensure that all products and packaging are being ethically produced, Ethr works solely with preferred local suppliers and printers.
