Fuse and Phero’s belief is that candles are a complementary mark in one’s home that ignite conversation, shows true characteristic of one’s self and arguably influences our emotions and behaviour, conjuring reminiscent memories of our past and shaping us into who we are today. To light ‘Akihabara’, the first in the line of many spirited luxury candles, is to be transported across the world to the bustling streets of Tokyo and Japanese pop culture. Founder James Ross approached me to create a brand identity that is contemporary, clean and edgy.
In addition to a striking logo mark, I designed a strong, recognisable monogram that could be used across print and web. James also wanted a packaging concept that could be easily used across different scents. The final design was a cream coloured box with the basic brand information. The box is sealed with a sticker with specific scent notes, story and unique graphic and colour denoting that scent, e.g. ‘ Akihabara’.
